I just installed FC2 at home and it's working well so far. I always 
install apt for it because the default package management sucks. You can 
get apt for Fedora here: http://freshrpms.net/ I had really horrible 
problems with FC 1, but FC 2 seems ok so far. I was worried I might run 
into the dual-boot issue (I need Windows for games), but it dual-boots 
just fine for me...

What sorts of issues are you seeing with FC?

Libranet (libranet.com) and Xandros (www.xandros.com) are both pretty 
nice if you want Debian-based systems. I've also heard good things about 
Mepis (http://www.mepis.org), but haven't ever tried it. If you are 
going to be setting up systems for them then you could just use plain 
Debian.

As for non-Debian choices I like Gentoo and Arch Linux. Arch Linux 
(archlinux.org) has a portage like system, but instead of having to 
compile everything, you download binaries that are optimized for i686. 
You can optionally compile packages yourself if you need to. Arch is 
only at version 0.6, but I think they will have a very promising future. 
Gentoo seems a little more mature right now so I use it, but I really 
think that Arch Linux could become very popular as it matures some.
