I am not seeing the issues myself, because I have only installed it
once.  However, the mailing list is cram-packed with people that are
having stability issues.  So many, in fact, that the developers were
prompted to write a message telling everyone that FC is for testing only
and should never be used in production.  FC1 is extremely stable for
me.  I have many customers running on it and all of my workstations are
FC1.

What scares me is if the developers don't expect stability, then I
shouldn't either.

For loading packages on Fedora, I use yum.  Seems to work great, and you
are right, the built in package management doesn't resolve dependencies
for you and all the other nice stuff apt and yum do.

I do like xandros also, for an out-of-the-box desktop solution, Xandros
is hard to beat.  But, I am looking for a slimmer server OS distro. 
That is why I am looking at Debian.  As far as Gentoo and distros like
that.  I think I want to stay with distros that have more support out
there.  For example, one of the products that I install, does not run on
Gentoo yet.
