amd64 recommendation?

Lug members,

I am in the process of upgrading my x86 stuff and soon will have a 
amd64 system.

I already downloaded Sun's Open Solaris 10 for x86

but I want to try some Linux distro as well. I wonder what 
experiences other Lug folks have had with amd64.
