VFAT filesystems don't carry any user or group ownership or permissions metadata the way a real Unix/Linux-native filesystem would, and that makes things quite difficult. You may try your luck with the UMSDOS filesystem, which overlays the extra metadata on a (V)FAT filesystem, but from what I remember it's painfully slow compared to a real Linux native FS, and it has some problems with files created on Windows (been a long, long time since I've actually used it though). Frankly, I think the performance issues (which are quite grave from what I remember) make this not worth doing. -- By their own reckless arrogance they perished: childish fools, They ate the Oxen of the Sun, and lost their hope of Home. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Newbie Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
