it seem my dvd device in /dev/dvd points to /dev/hdc which is my
proper dvd drive but i still get the message

libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access
libdvdread: Attempting to use device /dev/hdb1 mounted on / for CSS
authentication

i think its dvdcss that utilizes this stuff

here my xine config:
# string, default: /dev/dvd
media.dvd.device:/dev/hdc

and an ls -l of /dev
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 3 2005-11-30 00:13 /dev/dvd -> hdc
