networking/internet connection in console mode

HI every body i found a hardisk loaded with linux redhat 9 and asterisk installed on it. 
  I installed that harddisk to one of our computer connected to the network, 
  when i open the new computer with the new hardisk installed i cannot start the gui, maybe this hd is used to work in console mode bec this is used also in asterisk.
  can anyone help me how to connect this pc to the network. and to access the net  in console mode.
