I used to self-host all my open-source code. Now it's on GitHub.
Whether I stay on GitHub or move to another code host in light of
this unfortunate news, I probably won't go back to self-hosting.
Part of it is the sharing/discovery aspect: making it easier for
other people to find, use and fork the code.

But there's another reason that might sound silly or morbid: the
idea that the code might live on at least for a while after I'm
gone, whereas my personal website will disappear as soon as I stop
paying the bills and maintaining the server. Not that I'm expecting
that to happen any time soon, but you never know, and I like
knowing that the code is distributed on sites besides my own.
