Just to makes sure this matter is clear, nobody is proposing renaming
SVLUG.

Kevin Dankwardt has for years maintained a 'Meetup' group on the
commercial service meetup.com, as an adjunct to SVLUG, that has been up
to now named 'SVLUG - Silicon Valley Linux User Group'. That Meetup
group was originally created by SVLUG volunteer Tim Utschig. Kevin
re-adopted it in his capacity as a Meetup organiser after Tim was no
longer able to do so. (Meetup organisers pay a fee starting at
$120/year for a plan with significant built-in limitations, $180/year
for one with fewer, and more for a large 'enterprise'-scale plan.
This fee entitles them to maintain several meetup groups within
meetup.com, IIRC three groups for the $120 and $180 plans, as long as
they continue to pay the maintainer fees.)

Because Kevin is now working in San Fracisco, and is only rarely in the
South Bay, all the meetup.com events he's been able to organise since
then have been in San Francisco, and that fact is unlikely to change.
And it thus makes _enormous_ sense for him to rename the Meetup group in
question to SFLUG. (To my knowledge, nobody else in the South Bay
currently paying Meetup, Inc. those maintainer fees is willing to adopt
the 'SVLUG - Silicon Valley Linux User Group' the way Kevin took it over
from Tim.)

It would IMO also be extremely welcome for him to post here reminders
about those upcoming Linux meetups in San Francisco.
