What about making it a meta group - SFBayLUG or something like that?
That precludes SVLUG losing access and looking dead, but has a name
which opens up (re)posting really any LUG event in the bay area, including
in south bay.

Personally I don't mind getting SF notifications, though I probably won't go.
I might go to peninsula events.

That's probably true for folks who live and work in one location. People
who work in one location and live in the other may be willing
to either stick around late or go home early for an event.

I know a number of people who live in south bay/work in SF or vice versa;
I don't think it's uncommon.
