Re: Anyone else having problems with this job market?

I've been looking for a job for about 5 months now.
I've had some interviews, but nothing yet.

Some things I've learned in that time...
* Be persistant. Go to the job websites every day (or
set up their automatic searchs.) But look every day. I
usually apply to 1-3 jobs per week. That's resulted in
about 15 initial contacts and about 6 interviews.

* Network. Talk to everybody you can. This is really
the best way of finding a job (or, so I hear.)

* Make sure you have a good, *customized* cover letter
for every job you apply for. I have a template that I
modify heavily for every application.

* Have friends, ex-coworkers, etc look over your
resume.

* And probably most important: be patient. I have a
feeling I am getting close to getting a job. In fact I
will be getting a call about a job tomorrow. Hopefully
they will make an offer. If you're interested, it's
with Accenture (accenture.com) and they seem to be
hiring for several positions.
