I've got a Fedora box with two mirrored 1T disks using a linux software RAID. If I had it to do over again, I'd just use one of the USB to NAS appliances that Fry's sells along with a USB disk enclosure or two. The Fedora box is proving to be too much of a power hog. OpenFiler didn't like my hardware; FreeNAS did, but I didn't enjoy looking at the web interface. I haven't tried any of the others.
