If you go into storage utils under administration tools, you can mount a harddrive directly to a harddrive. I've seen documents and settings get mounted, so I'm guess the same can be done with Users and program files. That still doesn't solve for malware/viruses/spyware that live in those directories as well as windows registry issues.
