Adobe does not yet maintain a plugin for viewing PDF files within 
Firefox for computers with Mac OS X. To view PDFs in Firefox:

    * If you have a Mac with a PowerPC processor, the Schubert|it PDF

      to view PDF files in Firefox.

If PDF documents open within Firefox but only the first page is 
viewable, make sure that the QuickTime

   1.  From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.

   5. If "PDF Image" is checked, click the check box to clear it.

for Unix and linux the download page for the plugin is:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=unix

It may also be available in your distro's repository.

I believe this is a 32-bit application, so if you are running 64-bit you 
will have to install the 32-bit runlibs for support. apt-get or yum will 
probably take care of this.

I don't use the adobe plugin, so maybe someone who does can comment 
better on its performance.
