Has anyone tried Debian Squeeze (6.0). So far I have built a
 gateway/firewall box and a desktop.
I have deployed 3 Debian/Squeeze based routers/FW/GW while it was
till in testing (April/2010) :D. No issues at all thus far.
You may want to explore Voyage Linux 0.7 which is based on Debian
queeze see <http://linux.voyage.hk>
I have been using Squeeze on my laptop+desktop for about 6 months now
nd quite happy with it.

Try the Ubuntu hardware compatibility list.

I've been doing this long enough to know about the hardware compability lists.
Unfortunately, I have had the experience of having a compatable card,
but finding out that you need to load NDIS wrapper and the windows drivers.
I have never been able to get this to work on an existing system, never mind
a new install. I was looking for someone who had gotten a specific wireless card to
work out of the box on a new install.
