Oh, and if you have ever had to add or upgrade wiring, you will be glad for conduit. I hate working in houses where they use Romex cable. Cutting into a wall with plastic cable and no pipes can yield some nasty surprises! - Mike Scott -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [LUNI] Home ethernet From: JAMES HARVEY <[email protected]> Date: Mon, March 07, 2011 8:23 am To: "Linux Users Of Northern Illinois (Chicago) - Technical Discussion" <[email protected]> From: Larry Garfield <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, March 6, 2011 9:42:48 PM Subject: Re: [LUNI] Home ethernet I am not sure if the electrician is planning on putting in pipe or not. My contractor didn't say. The price he quoted was higher than I expected so he may be. OTOH, I did map out 1-2 jacks per room for flexibility so that I can rearrange furniture later as the situation requires, so 12 lines total for the house. I'm pretty sure I won't be exceeding any distance limitations as it's only a single family home. Cook and Dupage counties are conduit by code. I hate conduit. -- Linux Users Of Northern Illinois (Chicago) - Technical Discussion http://luni.org/mailman/listinfo/luni -- Linux Users Of Northern Illinois (Chicago) - Technical Discussion http://luni.org/mailman/listinfo/luni
