CentOS install (was: udhcpd question Debian squeeze)

After bailing on Debian's weak dhcpd, I moved on to CentOS.
It was kind of rocky getting it installed since the box I'm using has no
drives other than the internal HDD.
I wanted to be able to boot from a USB flash drive and got that to work
pretty easily.
I had a slight problem resolving hostnames for an HTTP install (I think
I mis-configured the DNS addresses).
After I got that sorted, I ran into an issue with an error during the
file download.
I finally started the download of the full install DVD (3.9G), had a
glass of wine and went to bed.
This morning, I was able to mount the ISO on my desktop system, export
it as an NFS share and use the USB stick to install.

The good news is, CentOS uses the full-featured dhcpd (not busybox), so
setting up reserved IP addresses is a snap.

Next up, I am going to tackle making it a caching DNS server and that
will replace the two main functions on the Clear appliance so that when
I move away from them (likely as the service is inconsistent) it should
be as simple as unplugging one network cable from my switch and plugging
in another.
