I usually blame any 3rd party plug ins or add-ons. It is possible that an add-on could be responsible. You can start firefox in safe mode using the command firefox -safe-mode. If you don't have the problem in safe mode then you will need to start disabling, and enabling add-ons and plug ins until you find the culprit.
