I moved the Chicago Chapter ACM e-mail list to a Google Group a few 
months ago, and I wouldn't do it again, although I haven't found a 
different, free option yet that I like.

There is a big issue with the migration, as you are not allowed to add 
people more than about 10-15 people a day. You can invite them, but not 
add them. Also there is no way to record other information about people, 
even their names. It is just the e-mail.
I felt like I gave up to much power over managing the list and lost the 
ability to record additional info about subscribers.

Also, Google mangles the HTML I send out, so when you look in the list 
archives, everything is plain text and often links are broken.
