I belong to several other google groups and they work fine for me. I had a little confusion as I wanted to edit my profile and they say group profiles are being done away with and instead link to your Google profile. I have a Google profile but still didnt see the option to link Google group to my Google profile. Maybe I wlll check in a few weeks again.
