External USB HDD to Network

I have recently purchased a 300gb hdd and an external enclosure. I am
wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a device that would
allow me to put this external drive on a network without the use of a PC? I
have seen only 1 device (http://www.psism.com/hd363n.htm), but is an enclose
itself and from what I can see, isn't available from an Australian
distributer. The device above I have read uses some flavour of Linux and
uses samba to run the network hdd side of things. The solution I require
would need to be compatible with both linux and windows.

Any ideas/suggestions would be good.
