Thanks for having a look. I know that site well.

The ltmodem--8.26.blah works up to k-2.4.2o but the build module script spits 
the dummy on 2.4.26 source with an error message saying to use 
ltmodem-8.30.blah. Googled into some lists when looking for it and that site 
is referred to as source for the 8.30 tarball nut its no longer there.

The 8.31 tarball as I read it is for Debian although perhaps "Debian binary 
build fixed" means they fixed the Debian script and upgraded it to .31 to 
denote a maintenance upgrade. Suppose I'll download it anyway and see.
