I've had a lot of crashes (segfaults/panics) under the following conditions
(at different times!)

1.  CPU overheating (dead fan)
2.  Dud RAM or mismatched RAM speeds
3.  CPU not able to handle rated clock speed (underclocking fixed the prob)
