The only other video format I like is MPEG. I'd say that like Tony says you have to care less about video file formats if you are on Linux. I'm meanwhile using nothing but the Mplayer Mozilla/Firefox plugin and am not having any problems with viewing almost any file I've come across till now. And if you have mplayer you can even easily download streams and save them in a file by using the -stream option. In Windows you'd need a special stream grabber software I think ;-) This comes in very handy if tv stations provide streams and you want record some show or news or something...
