Hi Rick, You may already tried this - if so pls ignore. Anyhow, I have been unable to resist tinkering with many Linux distros, and the one I have found easiest for retrieval purposes is "Chubby Puppy Linux". Even without installing it (booting from your "Live CD"), your drives show up nicely in "drives"/Media Tool. You can just "click on" "mount" on your hda icon line to access your hard drive files, open your USB device in the same way, and then "drag" files into the latter.
