If he is getting that many worms and virusses, maybe a little bit of
educating is required. I've used Windows since 3.1 and have only once
had a problem with malicious software.
Tell him about keeping software up to date
Tell him not to run executable attachments he recieves through email
Tell him to check that the source of an application is trustworthy
before installing it.
Tell him not to run with administration privileges.
Tell him not to view pron sites using internet explorer.

If you just move him over to GNU/Linux and don't educate him then you
don't solve the problem you just delay it occuring again until email
based virii start being widely distributed that attack linux based
operating systems.
