I'm currently running Gentoo on a Toshiba P20. I've also got Ubunut
installed, and at one time had Fedora, Madriva, SUSE, and off the CD -
Knoppix. My experiences are similar to Jared. I too have an nVidia
card, did have the modem working once (but broadband made me lazy),
but I've never had any reason to get the SD reader to work.

Some useful sites I would suggest you look at are:
http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/toshiba.html
http://tuxmobil.org/toshiba.html
http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux/index.htm
http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/

If you're after my experiences, please feel free to e-mail me off list
and I'll send you a link to my page...

Overall, I don't think you'd find there's much of a problem with
getting Linux to work these days...

Good luck,

...Ric
