Unix, Linux System Engineer - Permanent - Melbourne

Hello Linux Users!





I am looking for a Unix, Linux System Engineer for a permanent role in
Melbourne.  This, it seems, is rather difficult in the current market.



Other than all the usual things recruiters say to get you interested,
I can tell you I worked for this organisation for 5 years and loved
it.  It's a financial services organisation of around 600 people in
Melbourne and thousands of others around the world.  I know these
people well - they are great and the new IT Service Delivery team they
are building is the focus of IT this year.  It's a hard working,
diligent and eclectic team with varying skills and experience and now
that IT support is being brought back in house, the responsibilities
are huge.  Most importantly though, the social club is unlike any that
I have come across (there is a bar on the roof!) and every Friday at 5
is a party.

Provide Strategic IT Infrastructure solutions for Unix, Linux, ESX
VMWare server platforms
Provide IT Infrastructure Capacity Planning for Unix, Linux, ESX
VMWare server platforms
Provide escalation for production, test development and DR
Infrastructure system availability (Unix, Linux, ESX VMWare server) to
IT SLA

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

Unix/Linux certification and Degree or Diploma in IT
5-6 years in IT including

2-3 years in a Unix, Linux System Admin role
1-2 years in similar role (Unix, Linux System Engineer) preferred

Technical skills required:

Unix Solaris 8, SUSE Linux 9 Server System Admin skills mandatory
Unix, Linux Shells scripting mandatory
Perl scripting skills mandatory
Veritas Volume Manager skills mandatory
Veritas Cluster skills mandatory.
