Thanks again, more good info.  I had read positive things about the  
Snom phones, but it seems like the Aastra's may be the best choice  
(particularly for businesses that can spend the $). I think Digium  
sells Polycom SIP phones with their SwitchVox product.  I am relieved  
to know that there are SIP phones out there with cordless/wireless  
units that work well.

It's seems like most of the world is using SIP, but I've heard IAX is  
more efficient and some people say it plays better with NAT; though  
I've no direct experience with using either protocol.  As you point  
out though, SIP seems to have widespread use, is well supported, etc.

It seems like Asterisk is making a dent in the enterprise, Summer Bay  
is apparently using it for 60,000 people and I think they use Global  
Crossing for their SIP trunks;
