I think my iPhone is great and have enjoyed using it for many months to 
bring up a terminal and ssh into our debian boxes to do linux stuff.

It is also great for e-mail and web browsing, but due to our Australian 
data plans and voice bundles I am not using it for a phone (my First on 
3 cap is too good for voice and Vodafone too good for data - but sloooow 
with 2G).

It is the best device I have ever had for data activities, particularly 
terminal based stuff on linux boxes.  Can't wait for 3G and hopefully a 
decent data/voice combo plan!  (I think a bluetooth handset will likely 
be the go for regular use of the device, so that you can talk and do 
things on it at the same time).
