Knoppix (aka the easy way to get a bootcd with ntfs-3g going) I have experienced a few odd occasions of inaccessible files that you may struggle with a few notes from file issues I've had: * total path+filename greater than 255 characters causes problems with weird results for Windows * possibly a virus * partitions mounted as folders rather than drive letters are murky. * network drive mounts are murky * i had unkillable files showing up in MS word recent docs that were stored in bizarro hidden folders (not like the normal ones), had to track their location down in the registry * it's windows, run and hide. (or run and read, in you case - boom *tish*) On Fri, Jan 2, 2009 at 5:33 PM, Voytek Eymont <[email protected]> wrote: > I have an XP system with some user dirs/files that somehow are marked as > read only/hidden/system, and, I can not remove or delete them. > > untagging readonly or other attribs doesn't stick; > command line 'attrib' doesn't seem to work either > files only have 'read/execute' selected, can not enable other attribs, > > booting in 'safe mode' as 'administrator' doesn't help; > > booting with BartPE and using the two file utilities that come with BartPE > doesn't work > > any suggestions how to remove these files/directories ? > > -- > Voytek > > -- > SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ > Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html > -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
