killbox made an xcopy of all 14GB, before crashing itself
(luckily, the copied 14GB deleted OK)

I'll try killbox with a smaller subset

BartPE boots but both of it's two file utilities fail to delete

UBCD I didn't have, I'll d/l and try

Knoppix (I only had version 3 with me) wouldn't boot, hanged half way
(I d/l 5.1 since, but haven't tried as yet)

Kubuntu (latest version) booted to corrupted video, can not see anything

this is a wide screen toshiba, I guess the problem with Knoppix/Kubuntu is
video driver ?
I guess there is a boot time video option(s) that I'm not aware of ?
