yes. as far as I can make out from phone's user guide, docs (and screen
icons) I'll get 'h' in HSDPA service area, and '3g' elsewhere where 3G is
around (and possibly a GPRS icon elsewhere?)

so far, I only see '3g' screen icon, I'm also guessing '3g' might indicate
EDGE network..? which I think the phone supports in addition to HSDPA.

that would kinda match (I think), with observed performance, EDGE class
connection.

I need to check Telstra NextG map and go somewhere in a middle of NextG
area and see what happens, I think

I've tried to get some info from Telstra, but they told me 'palm
unsupported, will not work'

I'll try adding more ** to atdt, so far, using these:

(my old GPRS setup)
AT&FX1E0V1W1S95=47
ATD*99#

(new NextG setup)
+cgdcont=1,"ip","telstra.internet"-
ATDT*99#

both give me connection, with either one, the phone's LCD claims 'GPRS
connection'

as soon as I get my new data allowance (later this week) I'll test some more
