xp boot.ini /3gb switch ? Re: budget gaming hardware spec

anyone using XP with the /3GB boot.ini switch ?

I tried it on a system with 4GB RAM, it boots to user logon screen, then,
comes up with numerous errors

tried also with /3GB /userva=2900

that booted OK, BUT:

memory identified in Task Manager didn't seem altered;
main board video ram dropped from 384 to 96MB

I'll try different values and see, but, if anyone has some suggestions...
