ntfs tools ?

I'm (still) having probs deleting/removing dirs/files from XP laptop

booting Knoppix and using either 'mc' or deafult desktop file manager,
files delete, directories are clear/gone, then, when volume is re-mounted,
they re-appear

if I drill down to lowest level, it appears empty;

on subsequent XP boot, if I drill down to lowest level, there are files
there, with , probably, corrupt file names

from Knoppix, I mount the drive with '-o rw', are there any other options
I should use ?

from Knoppix, mount query shows: 'type fuseblk, (rw, nosuid, nodev...)'
is that what it should show ?

what else to try ?
(I realize I should reformat the laptop, but...)

(Bart PE boot doesn't help)
