The woman next to me finished year 11 at school and has been doing admin 
/ customer service since then....and then I flicked here some 
HTML....then a few lines of PHP.....you know a bit here a bit there.

Yesterday she found a bug in an app because the CONCAT in a MySQL SELECT 
query doesn't return rows if any of the columns in the CONCAT are NULL.

I am sure most of the people with programming as their "chosen 
specialty" can program better than me or her.

Another mate of mine is a Laywer and moved into Java programming.

I think programming is a great career path and one that I enjoy but like 
many people just feel into it [and from the Marketing Department at that].

I'm not offended that someone looks at a wider net when making a key 
hiring decision. Seems pragmatic to me.
