In response to the ethical issues you have raised, it would appear to me
that each step away from FOSS undermines the position and integrity of the
LUG. Each step is just a little bit further and a little bit further. I say
this not as someone who is pure himself :) nor as someone who is fanatical
(well, I don't think I am! LOL)

Additionally, given the discussions we've had, I can understand you raising
this issue. Volunteering takes up people's time and, as I have been informed
a few times by different people in SLUG, getting people to volunteer can be
difficult (I've had the same discussion recently at a meeting of my
children's school P+C and pre-school committee).

Hopefully as more people read their SLUG mail and ponder the issue, there
will be more (and I see there is now at least one offer of practical
assistance) offers of assistance so that the query you have raised will
hopefully be made redundant.
