Ken,

Warnings of these scams have been more widely broadcast for a quite a while
by more than us geeks. There are official statements from gov.au orgs like
ACMA - http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD..PC/pc=PC_312277 It's been in the
papers a fair bit too

I'd reckon that 98% of non-geek would know about this scam already.
