  Abstract:
In a world of 56 different frameworks, Java web application developers have plenty of choices to make. Many of these frameworks leave them thinking, "It shouldn't be so hard". I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be. In the spirit of Rails, simplicity is brought to Java in Sails. Come see for yourself how Sails can make Java webapps fun.
  About the Speaker:
Adam says: I had been banging my head on Java web applications for around 2 years. I was exposed to Ruby when I was made to write a web application with it about three years ago, long before Rails came along. I didn't see tons of folks using Ruby for web applications, but at least I can say that I saw Ruby as viable and started the Ruby Development Tools project. Having had lots of exposure to the details of HTTP and complex Java frameworks, Rails was the proof I needed that it didn't have to be so hard. Ten hours into Rails later, Sails was born. I learned Object Oriented Programming from the fine folks at RoleModel Software, where I was an apprentice from 8/2000 to about 6/2003. I was gone from there for a bit, when I spent time working at a large Application Service Provider. I have since been contracting for 2.5 years, a lot of that with RoleModel.

Proceed East on I40 to Davis Drive (Exit 280) Take exit for Davis Drive.
