1. Download Tomcat and Eclipse.

2. Play.

3. Ping your friendly neighborhood JUG if you get stuck. :)

I wish I had known a few years ago how easy and free it was/is to get
going with Java.

Here's another big secret: in my experience, few employers care what
coursework you have -- they might like to see a degree but are far more
interested in hands-on work, no matter how trivial. Figure out a way to
put your playing-around projects on your resume, and throw in the
buzzwords for whatever technologies you use. Have code samples at the
ready. If it's feasible, have a laptop you can bring to interviews and
show your work (on localhost -- no need to pay for a hosting co.).
