The company I work for recently upgraded the internal apps to Java 6, from
Java 5, and the original code had been developed on 1.4. I don't think
there were many hiccups upgrading, and when the initial trial tests came
through with few/no issues, the thought was 'why not?'. Larger
installations with more backwards compatibility concerns are probably
rightly scared in to sticking with 1.4.
