I'm always a bit leery of SEO in that you could pay someone a fair amount of money for SEO, and then GoogleMeister-MeisterGoogle [1] turns around a week later and rolls out a new algorithm which automatically discounts the tactics of said SEO, so then you are in a never ending arms race. Instead, I think you should focus on building out strong content on your site and then on identifying relevant conversations on other (popular) sites, add to the conversation in a meaningful way, and then link back to yours. Google and the like, for the most part know what "good" content is and over time will gravitate to it. IMO, there is no quick fix.
