I think Java is the "crown jewel" of the Sun purchase and thus Oracle is certainly not going to squash Java. Paul D. Interesting discussion. I've heard people say the death of Moore's law<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law> is the death of java. That seems a bit too far, but I don't think java is dying. I think its more like the Hype Curve<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hype_cycle>. Java is further advanced on the curve than many things. They'll move along the curve just as java has. ________________________________ From: "Ramkumar Jeyaraman" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 11, 2009 12:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: SPAM-HIGH: Re: [Juglist] Java giving way to PHP and .Net? I agree with you that the proliferation of too many frameworks has led to a diluted understanding of J2EE among some, but I don't see Java crumbling.. at least not yet. At my current job, we are moving away from php - perl to Java.. -Ram On Fri, Sep 11, 2009 at 11:10 AM, Tim Jowers <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: At least that's what I'm seeing. I guess the glass house figures Oracle will squash Java and the proliferation of too many random frameworks and unskilled progammers in the space has led companies toward .Net. A surprise to me for sure but I guess that's the way Java crumbles. Tell me I'm wrong.
