Eliot, Thank you for your comment to [email protected] archived at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/xsl-editors/2002OctDec/0052 The following is our disposition of your above comment: --- Disposition: Explanation of XSL spec There are many other things that would get quite complex if reference-orientation would apply to table cells; for example border identification. To wrap the cell content in an fo:block-container for the cases where a rotation is required seems to be a simpler and more "orthogonal funtionality" design. --- Please Reply (cc-ing [email protected]) if you wish to make an objection to our resolution.
