Re: new editors claiming copyright

I strongly disagree. I see no reason to trust people
who make these claims where they have made no effort
to back up those with claims with real evidence. I
think at the least, the website where the material is
from should be contacted and asked to confirm the
statement. I have put a standard letter at
http://en2.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission
which can be used to confirm permission. I've used
this a number of times and generally the web site
owners are pleased that they are being contacted for
confirmation rather than blindly trusting an anonymous
user.
