    I am also going to make a PR for the update, so you could download it from Github,
    but it would help to know if the clang workaround is successful first.
    
    You are right that SetCC should set the default C compiler in all scripts, so it
    CC is not redefined someplace else, I don’t understand either how that would
    happen. But without the extra patches the clang compilation would fail anyway,
    because it is bumping into the use of OpenMP in several places.
