Fortran compilation

I am transitioning from 10.11.6 to 10.15.3 on a MacBook Pro. Here is the fink version information:

Package manager version: 0.45.0
Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Tue Mar 3 09:53:01 2020, 10.15, x86_64
Trees: local/main stable/main

I need to recompile several Fortran programs since they are looking for libraries
in /sw rather than /opt/sw.

I am using gfortran-fsf-9 and gcc-fsf-9.

The following error occurs: ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64

From what I read, it seems that this may be an error associated with Xcode.
I am using version 11.3.1.

Is there a workaround or a fix?

Jim Kolata
