[make deb for mercurial stable] (was: installatioin of mercurial-py36 (27 35) fails)

A question: I also regularly clone mercurial and compile it myself

Mercurial comes with 

  make deb

Which makes a debian package

If do this in fink, could that deb then be installed, or is it an
entirely different object?
