Apple's SplitForks utility, which fink uses for packages that use the AppBundles feature, apparently cannot cope with non-hfs volumes. We don't have an actual solution right now (other than the obvious of running on hfs). I don't know if this is a strict technical limitation (we would have to redesign how AppBundles works) or just that we need a tool that is more portable than Apple's.
