The M1 CPU will require more work in getting Fink working (similar to 
the PPC -> intel transition a decade ago). Like you saw, Rosetta can't 
translate everything. Right now, I believe only one Fink core person has 
an M1 machine. I don't know if he's been able to do anything with 
getting Fink working either bootstrapping or running an existing 
installation.
