There's no separate fink-distributions repository or branch for Big Sur. 
So the above is fine, although a bit annoying because the untracked 
files show up in git activities.

Once you pulled and updated revision of the Fink tool repository, did 
you run `./inject.pl` (and maybe `fink reinstall fink`)? That should 
have rebuilt the fink tool itself to know about 11.3+ and then a bunch 
of packages that depend on the system-perl package should have asked to 
be updated.
